Participation in local societies allows members to gain valuable leadership experience in conducting meetings, following parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, serving as delegates and speaking before groups at local, state and national conferences. The responsibility and privilege of selecting officers helps members gain an understanding of the democratic process.

Local C.A.R. societies engage in a range of annual and ongoing national and state programs, scholarship and essay contests, and participate in activities that help train good citizen, develop leaders, and promote a love of patriotism.
